On a sunny Sunday in September Georges Fair’s residents and the local community joined the Investa team at the estate’s annual Family Fun Day, to celebrate the opening of Central Park and raise funds for Liverpool Hospital’s Children’s Ward.
An impressive $5285 was raised. This surpassed the target of $3000 needed to purchase a pulse oxymetre, which unobtrusively monitors a sick child's oxygen level. Liverpool Hospital hopes to now purchase two of these much needed pieces of equipment.
Throughout the day more than 3000 people enjoyed amusement rides, international food, market stalls and dance and musical performances. A talented young singer from Moorebank High School wowed the audience with contemporary pop songs, and hip hop dancers of Boombox Dance Academy had both adults and children cheering for more. Talented local jazz band, The Pilomotor Reflex, provided a relaxed musical backdrop as families picnicked on the grass.
The roving clown and face painting fairies were favourites with younger children. By late afternoon hundreds of little pirates and princesses were happily playing on the new equipment at Central Park. The overwhelming response was that it was the best children’s playground in the Liverpool area, with a 20 metre flying fox and 12 metre high spiders-web style, climbing pyramid proving most popular.
Twelve lucky attendees left the event with a fabulous prize from the giant raffle. One family will soon be enjoying a short break at Mercure Kooindah Waters Golf and Spa Resort on the Central Coast. Others took home prizes including a flat screen television and vouchers for shops and restaurants that had been donated by local businesses.
